This year Astris PME is celebrating 70 years since the company was founded. It all started in 1952 with a small family business selling quality walking sticks under the banner of ‘House of Walking Sticks’. The culture of Improving Lives had begun! Over the next 29 years Roly built up a network of resellers which included chemists, rehabilitation stores, and even Myers, Grace Bros and David Jones.
When he decided to retire in 1981, Roly sold the business to his family friend John Anderson. John set himself to broaden the range of rehabilitation equipment, and to work directly with those with special needs. He rebranded the business as Able Rehabilitation Equipment, and formed relationships with hospitals, therapy groups, schools, and clinics right around NSW and ACT.
In 2019 the business underwent a transformation, rebranding as Astris PME, with a strong focus on providing scripted equipment for long-term equipment users. Now referred to as “Assistive Technology” (AT), advances in production and design have resulted in Astris PME having a world-leading range of equipment. Although NDIS had been introduced in a pilot-phase 6 years before, it took a while for the program to be rolled out across all states, for their procedures to be ironed out, and for state-based funding plans (such as Enable NSW, SWEP in Victoria, and MASS in QLD) to be replaced by the NDIS.
As we celebrate our 70th anniversary, we want to provide something extra for our clients. With showrooms and dedicated workshops in Sydney (Seven Hills and Ingleburn), Newcastle (Boolaroo), Canberra (Queanbeyan and Young), Brisbane (Wynnum) and a brand-new facility in Melbourne (Truganina), we have decided to gift a “Lifetime Back-to-Base” Service Package for every item of equipment delivered during 2022. This means if you purchase an item of AT equipment from Astris PME, and have it delivered from 10 January 2022 to 20 December 2022, your item of equipment can be brought back to any of our workshops - at any time during your ownership and use of it - and have it serviced for free! (Parts or extra accessories not included and will be quoted before being replaced).

Q: How will I know if my equipment is covered by this special offer?
A: If you purchase equipment from Astris PME, and it is delivered in 2022, it will automatically comply with the offer.
Q: I am unable to get my equipment to the Astris PME workshop; can you come to my house for the service?
A: Yes, we can. Our mobile service technicians cover a 3 to 4 hour radius from our facilities. If you live in our service zone, we can come to you. If you live further away than that, call us to discuss options. Note all travel by our service technicians is chargeable. Please request a quote.
Q: Does this offer affect warranty?
A: If your equipment requires any warranty work, this normally needs to be done at our workshops. Any parts that fail during the warranty period – excluding wear-parts (such as tires) – are covered by the warranty terms. Contact our service team to discuss your requirements.
Q: Does this offer include parts and accessories?
A: Parts or extra accessories are not included in this offer. If required, you will receive a quote from us for the cost of any replacement parts and accessories.
